Sentimental & Superstitious Fly Fishing Ways

Good Redington Waders juju

I’ve already mentioned that I have a sentimental soul when it comes to my gear and rivers.

So here it is, naturally I lean towards the superstitious side of the coin. When I really think about it, Sentimental and Superstitious are like leader to tippet, so maybe I’m not all that ‘out there’ in my ways.

Sentimental and Superstitious ways can be an issue when introducing new gear to my routine.

For Example:

  • New hat and don’t catch a fish the first day I’m wearing it…well, it’s bad hat juju.
  • New fly box and break off every fish I stick? Negative fly box mojo.
  • New leader that fish keep shying away from? Voodoo vibes of course.
  • And so on…

The fact I could just be having a bad day on the water is clearly not a option to consider when you use sentimental and superstitious ways to measure a successful day.

It just doesn’t work that way…

So when I recently acquired new Redington Sonic Pro Waders and Willow River wading boots, I was understandably nervous about their unknown standing in superstitious vibes.

One bad day on the river could have been a gray cloud hovering over my opinion of them.

The good news: Not only were they extremely comfortable, I had no issues catching fish while sporting them on the water.

In other words, Redington passed the Sentimental & Superstitious test with flying colors and can stay in my fly fishing arsenal.

Please tell me I’m not the only one who measures their gear against river juju, mojo and voodoo vibes…
